We
humans have very delicate emotions. When something goes in our favor we say
“Thank God” while when something goes against our wish, statement changes
drastically to “God,Why Me?”. So today I am sharing my thoughts & opinions
on existence of GOD/ultimate creator/energy & relation/impact on Human.
Being
in IT, we are usually discussing & sometimes fighting over various topics
ranging from big bang to boomrang(:p), innocence to corruption. (these
discussions catch fire when we have idle minds for obvious reasons). I gathered
thoughts to write today’s article from my colleagues. Thanks to them. One fine
evening, one of my agnostic colleague with less or no work asked another
religious colleague, “Does god exists?” and then in that moment itself, I knew
that this discussion was going to be ...yes, wait for it ...leeeegendaaarrrrry.
Two cubicle split into two groups, people facing each other as if two
countries are facing each other with arms, ready to fight.
Non
believers (people believing in energies but not in particular face of god)
started debate with statement, we do not believe that there is any god in
specific but some energy which hold this world together in counter to this
leader of religious group started with “It was god who created everything”, he
continued,”Refer to puranas and you will find that it was Bramha who created
the world as it exists today. Refer to bible and you will find descriptions
regarding the creation of earth & nature”. Other group replied,“You can
check in any of the science text book related to astronomy big bang created the
universe” and the fight continued, so what was the result of the fight?. We
will come back to that point after some time. Right now, leaving apart the main
topic, lets take few coincidences from mythologies in the consideration.
Puranas (Story of Matsyavatar):
One
day Lord Manu after his worship routine was offering water in his palms (called
Arghya) to sun-god. At that time he heard a subtle voice: Manu! Look at Me, I
need your help. Manu saw a small fish in his palms and the voice manifested
from the fish. Manu said, You seem to be a divine personality. Tell me, how can
I serve You? The fish said, I wish to execute a gigantic task but this pond is
very small for it. Thus do take me to the river Ganges. Lord Manu’s heart
overflowed with love when he heard the voice of this divine fish. Hence he took
the divine fish in his water-pot and took it to a large river. On another
auspicious occasion Lord Manu again visited that place and he again beheld that
divine fish. The divine fish said: My size is increasing. Hence help me reach
the ocean. Manu obliged and took the fish to the ocean. Suddenly there was
Jala-Pralaya (destruction of the world by a deluge). In that destruction
everything was getting destroyed and hence the fish asked the seven Rishis
(Saptarshis) to sit on its back. The fish took the seven Rishis to the
Himalayan valley from where the Rishis spread the message of the Vedas
(spiritual knowledge) to the entire world. According to the Puranas (Indian
mythology) this is the story of the Matsyavatar.
Bible (Story of Noah’s Arc):
There came a time when there was only one good man in all the
world, and his name was Noah. Everybody else was bad. God wanted to start over
fresh. So He told Noah to build an ark. And Noah did. God told Noah to fill the
animals—two of every kind. And Noah did. Noah and went aboard too. Then God
made the rain come down. It rained and rained, until there was a great flood
that covered the world. Only those who were in the ark were safe and dry.
Everybody else was drowned. Then God made the sun shine and dry up the rain.
Everyone in the ark came out. Noah said: “Look! God has sent us a sign in the
sky. It means that He will never flood the world again.” The sign in the sky
was the very first rainbow.
Kuran(Story of Noah’s arc):
The Prophet Noah lived during a time so corrupt that
God decided he had to wash the earth clean of humanity’s prevailing sinful
nature. God warned Noah of his plan because the Prophet was full of “honesty
and virtue,” and therefore Noah’s seed would be used as the basis for a new
humanity. The earth was to be submerged under water for forty days, during
which time all humanity would be drowned, save Noah and his family. Noah was
instructed to build the Ark (Safina) by the exact measurements God provided
him, and inside there was to be made room for “two of every kind of animal”.
Noah faced difficulties while constructing the Ark.
Ibliscame to frustrate him in the form of a wild boar, but God used the blood
of Noah’s toil to create the Lion which chased the devil away. The people of
the earth mocked Noah for building the seemingly unnecessary boat, and they
laughed at his warnings concerning God’s wrath. Noah advised the people to head
his counsel, he even pleaded with God to be merciful because his son was one of
the disbelievers; but God rebuked Noah saying, “So beseech Me not concerning
that of which thou hast no knowledge”.
When the waters of the earth began to swell, and
Noah’s wife’s “bread-oven . . . poured forth boiling water,” Noah knew it was
time to enter the Ark. The sea rose quickly and covered even the highest
mountains – all drowned except for those in the Ark. After forty days God
commanded the waters to recede and the great ship came to rest “on the
mountains El Judi”. Therefore, all mankind traces their lineage through the
Prophet Noah.
Doesn’t the three coincidences match in much sense. I
mean how can one earth be destroyed by three different GODs, unless GOD is one
and people are praising GOD in different forms. In all the three scenarios
morale is same, god is almighty and if world go corrupt, god will destruct the
world to recreate a new world.
Everytime I look at mythology, I get a feel that all
religions are like protocols / guidelines for human to follow, so that world
does not go haywire and throw itself into dark pit. All religion preach similar
principles.
In the Bhagwadgita; Lord Krishna explains to
Arjun,”Human comes from Aatman then he travel through various phases of life
and finally he returns to Aatman”. Aatman is nothing but inner self or soul,
which in scientific terms could be explained as energy.
In few religions during funerals are performed in such
a way that body is returned back to soil, mixed with nature.
Review back in most of mythologies, we will see that
whenever world go corrupt or whenever some extraordinary evil power rise and
tries to disrupt the balance of the world then only god appears to save world
from evil. Ram stood against Ravana, Krishna stood against Kansa, Michael stood
against Lucifer and so on. Hence whenever I start to think about god, I find
myself drawing towards principles of Taoism. Taoism speaks “Yin creates Yang
and Yang activates Yin“. Hence everything in this nature rely on equilibrium
(at a point of balance), in line to the law of conservation of energy, “Energy
cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to
another”.
I am not very thorough in religious studies and still on my journey to find answers to my queries so I have my own belief towards these queries. Whenever I think of relation between God & human, I realize that in most religions god has provided authority to human for their acts. Bible terms this fact as free will. In Bhagwadgita Lord Krishna explains the same fact using Karma. Now lets retrospect in our own life, how many time in our life have we faced the situation where we have to make a tough decision? Assume a case where we are posed with a situation where your friends have made plans for outing over the weekend at a beautiful place and on the other hand your project is running late and you are willing to catch up with the same so as to meet the deadlines or you have some other very urgent work at hand. In such situations we always are posed with two options, its always “to be” or “not to be” choice. I believe, God might provide us with good thoughts and conscience but he doesn’t take decisions on our behalf. I believe god provide us good options but devil also do his homework pretty well. It’s us who choose between the options, hence the final decision is ours.

So in my opinion whole life works on below mentions three principles:
1. Law of conservation of Energy: World is always at equillibrium. If I perform any
actions, impact of my actions will set the ripples in the balance similar to a
dropped stone in still lake water.
2. 90/10 principle: 10%
of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you
react.
3. 80/20 Rule (Pareto Principle): The 80/20 Rule means that in anything a
few (20 percent) are vital and many(80 percent) are trivial. 20% of causes
creates 80% of impact.
